We're hiring: Senior Bookkeeper

Remote | US-Based Only


We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a deep working knowledge of QuickBooks Online who can confidently navigate real-world bookkeeping challenges and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely, and reliable financials. Our clients range from small to mid-sized businesses, which means you’ll regularly encounter complex and sometimes messy books. Success in this role requires a detail-oriented, resourceful, and professional individual who can handle cleanups, payroll issues, and nuanced financial situations with care and precision.


This is not a micromanaged position. We trust our team to manage their workload, think critically, and communicate effectively with both clients and colleagues. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, finds solutions, and follows through. At the same time, you won’t be working in isolation; you’ll have access to documented processes, modern tools, and direct support from leadership when needed. We value independence just as much as we value team members who know when to leverage resources and ask the right questions.

What you'll be doing:

  • Full-charge bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online

  • Client onboarding and cleanup

  • Managing 10+ clients per month

  • Historical cleanup and balance sheet issue resolution

  • Reviewing and explaining financials to clients

  • Payroll processing and troubleshooting

  • Reconciling tax schedules to QBO

  • Cross-checking reports across platforms

  • Client communication by email and portal

What we need:

  • Senior-level, full-cycle bookkeeping experience

  • Strong payroll troubleshooting experience

  • Strong balance sheet knowledge

  • Clear, professional, compassionate communication

  • Ability to self-manage deadlines and priorities

  • Confidence working without constant oversight

  • QBO Certification preferred

Schedule:

  • After the first 60 days, you can make your own schedule. You’ll need availability for 2 hours between 10 AM and 6 PM CST, two days per week for team meetings.​

  • This is a long-term team role, and we’re looking to build a lasting relationship with the right candidate—this is not a contractor position.

Compensation

Hourly pay starts at $25/hour, with higher pay based on experience, accuracy, and your ability to manage your workload with minimal oversight, few to no internal revisions, and a high level of accuracy.

Clearing the bank feeds with attention to details. Verifying EACH transaction.
What would you do if there is an uncleared expense bank-synced transaction at the end of a monthly reconciliation?
Payroll processing, reconciling, and reporting.
Thorough understanding of the balance sheet and P&L - You can tell the client what each COA means and why it's on their financials.

Advanced Job Duties

3-Way Reconciliations
Zoom meetings explaining financials to a client
Reviewing taxes & various tax schedules & matching to QBO records
Major clean-ups of books across multiple industries

Desired Number of Hours

Please let us know a little more about what you're looking for. We have enough for full-time but realize great people don't always need or want to work 40 hours a week.

Please share more on when you work best for whatever reason, what you have for other commitments you're balancing around (e.g. another gig), and if it's not your happy time you can still rally for the team or a client. Any times/days that are a hard NO, nope, can't do it. This can be flexible, it's just helpful for us to have a general idea.
